WELCOME TO LINCOLN SCHOOL!
2016-2017
Dear Lincoln Staff and Lincoln Families,
Welcome to the 2016 -17 School Year! I hope you are having wonderful summer and you are feeling rejuvenated and eager start school! I truly enjoyed spending more time with my family, going on vacations and watching in the Olympics.
As you know Opening Day For students is on Tuesday, September 6, 2016. Both Tuesday, September 6, and Wednesday, September 7, are Early Release days for students. Dismissal is at 11:30 AM. Thursday, September 8 and Friday, September 9 are full days. Kindergarten students who attend full days on Thursdays, will stay the full day on Thursday.
We have many exciting updates and changes to look forward to for the upcoming school year. We have several new staff members and families who will meet this fall. We now have a total of 411 students who will be attending Lincoln School this coming school year. As you know we were very busy last spring conducting interviews for various staffing positions and this process typically continues throughout the summer and even right up until this past week. Please join me in welcoming the following new staff members to Lincoln School:
Kindergarten Teacher, Jaime Shanklin, All Day Kindergarten Assistant, Patricia Crowley
Kindergarten Teacher, Erin Zingarelli-Adams, All Day K Assistant, Paula Lind
Grade 3 Teacher, Cynthia ReVelle
Special Education Case Facilitator, Mary Ellen Madden
School Psychologist, Elizabeth Muscolino
ELL Teacher, Patricia Kushakji
Instructional Support Staff, Catherine Melville
Lunch Staff, John Beckley
The LSPA is also hosting a Welcome Back Coffee for parents on both September 6, 7 at 8:30 AM by the front steps, entrance way, so please join us if you can even for just a few minutes to meet new families or reconnect with those you already know.
Student Photos will be taken on Thursday, September 21.
Our first LSPA meeting is scheduled for Thursday, September 22, beginning at 8:30 AM in our school cafeteria. We are thrilled to welcome our new families to Lincoln School and hope that many parents will sign up for volunteer opportunities. We have several important roles to fill, including the need for parent volunteers to be on the School Council. I will talk about the responsibilities and purpose of this committee at our first LSPA meeting.
Last, please keep in mind that September 29 is an Early Release Day.
We can't wait to meet and greet each student and his/her family members on Tuesday, September 6! I hope you enjoy the remainder of of your summer vacation and Labor Day Weekend!
Sincerely,
Kelly Clough
Principal

Green Team
This past Monday, Gr. 3, 4, and 5 students were treated to a performance offered by the National Theater for Children entitled "The Energized Guyz Powered Up." This performance was sponsored by Eversource. Throughout this 35 minute interactive comedy, students learned about energy conservation and renewable resources including hydro power, wind power, and solar energy. This was a great kick off to our Green Team initiatives.
