News from Commissioner Mitchell Chester & the MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
"I know that most of you were tuned in to yesterday's vote including the presidential election as well as the Massachusetts ballot initiatives. I realize that question two, the charter school cap initiative, is one that many individuals, families, and Educators were advocating for on one side or the other.
On this day after the election I would like to share my thoughts with you through a video message. I encourage you to share the video with all of your educators, parents, and the community. The video message can be found on our website at: www.doe.mass.edu. The video transcript is also attached for distribution.
It takes all of us, families and educators working together, to create and maintain high-quality classrooms and schools, and I look forward to continuing to work with you. I know that the Commonwealth’s educators are committed to doing what's necessary to provide each and every student in Massachusetts with a world-class education; you have my commitment as well."
Sincerely,
Mitchell D. Chester
Commissioner
