We Welcome The Month of May!!!

Lincoln Families,
Please Come Help with Spring Cleanup!

Date:  Thursday, May 3, 2018

Time:  4:00 PM - 6:00 PM

Dear Lincoln Parents,

Our Square1Art shipment came in last week and as of last Friday afternoon all items have been distributed to the children. We had another great year with this Visual Art Fundraiser with family participation up to 55% (from 52% last year and %48 our first year). It always surprises me how excited the kids are about this endeavor on small, "square" paper but they love having this opportunity to be a Surface Designer and see their work on an actual product.

The money raised from these sales (30%-40%) comes back to us and  has been wonderful for covering all sorts of Art materials, furnishings not covered with the WPS district Art budget. WPS elementary art teachers have been working with a smaller budget than when I started in the district in 2003.  Fortunately, the district has made sure we all have been able to keep our own school Art teachers, art rooms and indeed, we have one of the most glorious art rooms in the district. The great supplies and resources accumulated over the years from extra initiatives like Square1Art, the After school Enrichment and Summer Art programs supported by our families and the community help make it top notch. I am so grateful to all!

I have not have the exact number at this time but I am guessing we raised are somewhere between $2,500 and $2,800 this year. Square1Art is prompt at sending that check along to me in the next 30 days. I will be handing it over to Lietza Molloy our LSPA treasurer.

Thank you all again for your support of the Visual Arts!

Sincerely,
Miss Costello

Buddy Benches For Sale
Thank you WFEE for your generous gift towards a Buddy Bench for Lincoln School Playground!  The purpose of the Buddy Bench is to provide additional opportunities for students to interact and play with other friends during recess.  Students seated on the bench will be invited to play with others, join a game, or participate in some other activity.

Also,  A BIG Thank you to Lisa Fleming, Lincoln School Occupational Therapist, for writing the grant to WFEE, on behalf of all Lincoln students.
