What a wonderful time of year!
The Lincoln 5th Grade participated in a charity research project to raise money over the winter break through a Read-a-Thon. Over the past two weeks, students have been researching a charity of their choice and then wrote a persuasive essay to convince their classmates where the money should be donated to. On Wednesday, December 18th, students presented their essays to their own homeroom class and had their first round votes. The top two students were selected to present their charity in front of the entire grade on Friday, December 20th. These eight students spent many hours creating a Google Slides presentation full of information about their charity and why their charity should be chosen. All eight students did a fabulous job presenting their charity and in the end, Riley Newman's charity, the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, won! Over the winter break, students will be calculating how many pages they read and using their sponsors to earn money for this amazing charity. We can't wait to see how much money will be earned and how much reading our fifth graders do!
