November News

Dear Lincoln Families,

This is the final Principal’s Note I will be sending you because I will be starting a blog in November.  The Lincletter will provide you with a direct link to my blog and once there you can also enter your email address where it states Follow by Email.  Here is my blog address:  lincolnprincipal.blogspot.com

We held our first All School Assembly on Thursday, October 29.  Several of our fifth grade students participated in a wonderful read aloud performance as they read the book, The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything.   Our first grade students sang and recited Halloween songs and poems.   Thank you to all of the First Grade Teachers and Ms. Toner for all their work behind the scenes helping students prepare – they all did a spectacular job!

We have our two student Principals for the Day for this fall!  They are Opal La Montagne in Grade 1, and Celia Oslakovic in Grade 4.  Our fifth grade morning announcers for last week Will Stewart and David Quill drew their names from the raffle ticket bins during the All School Assembly.  Congratulations to both Opal and Celia.    Parents, thank you again for supporting this fundraising effort.

Fifth Grade students have been invited to submit a 1 to 2 paragraph essay on Why it is Important to Celebrate Veteran’s Day?  The deadline for submitting an essay is Tuesday, November 2, 2015.  There will be one fifth grade student represented from each of the elementary schools.  The student, whose essay has been chosen, will be invited to read their commentary at the annual Veteran’s Day Parade and Civic Exercises Celebration on Wednesday November 11, 2015. The students will meet at the Winchester High School campus by 10:00 AM, just before the parade begins. The student will be contacted by Barbara O’Connell, Veteran’s Day Parade Committee Member, regarding details of the day’s events.

P.J. Lynch, Creator of the book, The Boy Who Fell off the Mayflower, will be visiting all 3rd graders at 1:30 PM at Lincoln on Tuesday, November 10, 2015.  Reserved, autographed copies may be picked up at Book Ends after the author’s visit to the store on Nov. 10th from 3:30 PM – 4:30 PM.  Autographs will only be personalized if prepaid.  Please call Book Ends at 781-721-5933.

Student photo re-takes are on Thursday, November 12, 2015.  Please make sure that you send in the necessary slip if your child missed the original photo day or return the original photo packet if your child is having his/her photo retaken. Ms. Hart has extra slips in the front office for anyone who needs one.

There is no school on Wednesday, November 11, in recognition of Veteran’s Day.

The first Parent Coffee is scheduled for Friday, November 13, from 8:30 AM – 9:30 AM for Kindergarten Parents.  I hope many of you are able to join me in the cafeteria for this gathering.

Don’t forget to follow me on my blog starting in November!

Sincerely,

Kelly Clough
