Introducing our Guest Readers Series!

Listening to reading is beneficial to all children, not to mention a great way for busy parents to ensure that their children are reading daily. Please enjoy our newest "Lincoln Loves Literacy" initiative, "Guest Readers!" Each week a new staff member at Lincoln will be featured reading a book aloud. Please come and Claim Lost and Found Items!  They are on display in our front lobby all this week.  Those items not claimed will be donated to a local charity.

Lincoln

From the Desk of Ella MacLeod- Lincoln Literacy Coach
Have you heard about the newest room at Lincoln?!

It was once just the back space of the auditorium filled with forgotten furniture and empty boxes.  But it is now…
The Lincoln Literacy Lending Library!

This newly designed room is now a shared space that is available for all teachers to use. There are multiple seating areas for small group instruction, a cozy book nook perfect for settling in with a good book, and a large table ready for teacher meetings or professional development opportunities.  It is filled with many resources for teacher to borrow including mentor texts, leveled texts for students, professional books, professional DVD's, and the collection is growing quickly!
.

These are the “before” pictures, showcasing what the space looked like before the room was redesigned.

These are the “after” pictures showing what the space looks like now. Kelly Clough, Lincoln principal, provided funding for new furniture for the cozy reading nook, and the other books and supplies were from my old classroom.

These are leveled books for students or teachers to borrow for independent reading purposes.

This area holds all of the mentor texts and lessons. There are also professional books and literacy games available for teachers to borrow.

This is the cozy reading nook where small groups can come to meet and read. There are also charts with poems, and charts for beginning lessons that are available for teachers to borrow.

This table folds down for extra floor space, but when up serves as another good space for a small group to work.

This large round table serves as a place for teachers to meet with small groups for instruction.  It is also often used as a meeting place for consults, IEP’s, CPT, and professional development.
